In support of her exhibition 32 Brains, Helen Kilby Nelson led a workshop to re-imagine the game of Monopoly and open dialogue about the housing issues facing people in contemporary society . Participants were encouraged to share their experiences and imagination to recreate one of the most popular board games as a tool for conversation. Monopoly was originally called The Landlords Game. Created by Lizzie Magie, it was a reflection of greedy landlords in the late 19th century. Has anything changed? Does Monopoly represent the current housing situation?
